Students enjoy going every year and look forward to spending time at the camp.

The camp encourages the students to grow as a class develops their leadership and teamwork skills. It provides a fun way to grow as leaders together. The camp also is used for the faculty of the masters academy. Teachers go to the camp and experience many of the same things the students do. In so doing, they too grow together as a staff and develop their leadership and teaching skills. Teachers have a blast at the retreat every year and are encouraged for the coming year because of it.

The school also leasing the camp out to any and all who wish to use its facilities. Churches and various organizations rent the camp out and make full use of its resources. These organizations come to the camp to do team building exercises and leadership training as well. Camp Sparta has a variety of applications and does a great job at providing a good time for its participants while encouraging the growth of life skills as well.

The Master's Academy

The Masters Academy, founded in 1986, is one of the greatest schools in the state of Florida. It has received many awards for academic excellence and is one of the only schools to have a 1-1 iPad program. The addition of the iPads into the classroom setting has been a great success and has been able to effectively incorporate technology into the classroom.

The masters academy also offers a wide variety of high school courses that include regular, honors, advanced placement and dual enrollment courses for all students that choose to take them. AP and dual enrollment courses are designed to challenge the students who take them and will reward students who like to be challenged. These courses award college credit if the student is able to pass the AP exam and receive a 75 in the class.

Masters also offers many electives such as art, computer classes, debate, speech, etc. These teach students valuable skills that they can use later in life. The masters academy also offers student-athletes many sports they can choose to play. These s
Let's include: football, baseball, soccer, basketball, softball, volleyball, golf, and lacrosse. These sports help students be the best they can be while playing the sport they love.

The masters academy also offers an overnight retreat for all high school students at Camp Sparta every year. This retreat is designed to build unity within the classes by having games that classes compete in to earn points. The retreat offers many activities for students such as: tubing, a blob, paintball, ropes courses, carpet all, ping pong, etc. Students enjoy the retreat every year and is something they look forward to.

Unity

Koinonia is derived from a Greek word meaning communion or joint participation. The middle school at the Master's Academy has implemented this idea of joint participation by created koinonias that group students together into teams. This year the koinonias theme are superheroes. Various teams include: green arrow, spiderman, batman, hulk, wolverine, etc.

These teams then compete against each other in activities to earn points that go toward their team winning. In order to win, the students within these koinonias have to work together to achieve victory which is the key factor behind the creation of the koinonias at the masters academy.

The koinonias at the masters academy are designed to encourage unity and teamwork within each koininia by creating a competitive environment that students want to win in, and because of this will work with other students in their group to beat the other teams and win points for their teams.

These koinonias meet every Wednesday to bond together as a team and discuss the goals of their team for the year. In so doing this, the students become closer together as a team and as a class. Koinonias have been a great addition to the masters academy middle school, and has been successful every year in developing students team work, unity, and leadership skills. As a result, students will go into high school with skills that better equip them for the coming years.
